Cage Trapping Help
When, trapping raccoons, I have found it is best to use a leg hold type trap, in special cases when you are in populate areas it is necessary to use traps that have caution features such as the coon cuff or the egg trap, when in populated areas and dog proof traps are not available, as a last resort I use cage traps. I simply set the cage trap, stake it down using rebar stakes, and wire, I do this to keep the targeted animal from tipping it over (which coons are know to do) I then place a fair amount of bait in the back, I use regular trapping bait unless it is in the summer then I will turn baits I make myself or marshmallows, If these are not available I will used canned tuna, I hope this helps.

Re: Cage trapping raccoon?
for bait use like marshmallows and hang them from the back of the cage on a string
Re: Cage trapping raccoon?
take the lid off a can of sardines, and just set them right up against the back of the trap.
