Big Raccoon
A good set that will catch you mink but not so much coon is called the elbow set. it is a set where you dig a elbow shaped hole in the edge of a river bank where the top of the hole reaches the open. right at the bend in the elbow put your bait whaterver kind you choose that would catch a mink or raccoon. put a 220 trap on both ends. this set is good in fluctuating water levels

Re: big raccoons
take a 1.5 duke ( or what ya got with a jawspread 4.5 ins. and smaller) and dig a bed for the trap to set in. then line the bottom of the bed with leaves so the ground won't freeze to your trap. then put the set trap in the bed and put some sardine juice on top of the trap, then very, very carefully, set a big light leaf on the trap. use 12 1/2 or 11 gauge wire to tie it off with.

no, the juice. they smell, the fish oil and when they scrape the leaf off the trap to see what there is, they catch the front hand in it.

Re: big raccoons
that last one is pretty good. no set will ever catch every coon that comes down the river but a couple pockets about 10 or 15 feet apart baited with diff. stuff in each. remember coon travel in small groups of 2 or 3 so gang setting is a good way to pick up the extras. again this won't take every coon but it will help.

skunk, not trying to burst your bubble but coon only travel in groups when a mom has kits, and thats in summer. they travel alone most the time.
