mound set...anyone use it??

Post  water n my boots on Tue Apr 29, 2008 5:08 pm

mound set...(tripple dirt hole set.) .....dig three holes 3 inches accross and at similar distances apart making a triangle. make these holes 12 inches deep. make the openings of these holes about 12 inches from eachother accross. take the dirt from these holes and build it up in a pile in the center of triangle. place three pretty different baits in each hole. I usually put skunk carcass in one, duck or bird carcass in the other and an all around pred. curiosity lure in the other...the purpose of this combo is to try to attract every predator even if not hungry. i know many people target only certain furbearers, but im not that picky. set a number 1 3/4 or #2 at each hole but inside about 3 inches and cover well. Trap chains should be as short as possible and very swively. i stake them cause i dont want one furbearer to set off the other traps. if you bring other dirt and pile up some obstacles in the center, then you can avoid catches from getting in other traps. The presence of other animals will not spook, but enhance the call to other predators..
Cant wait to hear yalls
